Changes in traditional market demand and environmental pressures are the two major problems currently facing the daily glass industry, and the task of transformation and upgrading is arduous. “At the second meeting of the Seventh Session of the China Daily Glass Association held a few days ago, the chairman of the association Meng
Lingyan said that China’s daily-use glass industry has been growing for 17 consecutive years. Although the industry has encountered some difficulties and struggles, the continued upward trend has not fundamentally changed.
multiple squeeze
It is understood that the operating trend of the daily-use glass industry in 2014 was “one rise and one fall”, that is, the increase in output, the increase in profits, and the decline in the profit margin of main business income, but the overall operating trend is still in a positive growth range.
The increase in production growth is closely related to factors such as the cumulative effect of the consumer market and structural adjustments in recent years. The increase in profit and the profit margin of main business income have declined, which to a certain extent indicates that the sales price of products has fallen, and market competition has further intensified; various costs of the enterprise have increased, and the profitability has declined.
The first negative growth in export value is mainly due to the following factors. First, the industry’s excessive expansion of production capacity has led to fierce competition in export prices; second, rising corporate operating costs; third, affected by the financial crisis, companies that originally specialized in exports turned to domestic development market.
Meng Lingyan said that in the first half of this year, the industry situation was more severe than last year. The development of the industry is facing bottlenecks, and the task of transformation and upgrading is arduous. In particular, environmental protection issues are related to the survival of industries and enterprises. In this regard, we must neither take it lightly nor sit still.
At present, the industry’s low-level oversupply, high-level supply is insufficient, independent innovation capability is not strong, weak and scattered, low quality and low price, prominent homogeneity problems, structural excess of production capacity, and increase in raw and auxiliary materials and labor costs are affecting the overall economy of the industry. Important factors for operational quality and efficiency.
At the same time, the task of energy conservation and emission reduction is extremely difficult due to the increasingly strengthened resource and environmental constraints. Green barriers in developed countries and my country’s strict emission reduction targets have caused the industry to face the dual pressures of energy conservation, emission reduction and market changes. Multiple squeezes test the industry’s endurance and resilience.
Meng Lingyan believes that in terms of the current market conditions and policy orientation, especially the overall environmental protection policy, restraining low-level homogeneous production capacity expansion, optimizing product structure, developing personalized products, high value-added products, and increasing industry concentration are still industries. The urgent task facing.
The good trend has not changed
Meng Lingyan said frankly that the daily-use glass industry is facing a period of pain, adjustment and transition, but the current problems belong to the growing troubles. The industry is still in a period of strategic opportunities that can make a lot of progress. Daily-use glass is still the most promising. One of the industry’s industries, it is necessary to see the favorable factors for the development of the industry.
Since 1998, the output of daily-use glass products was 5.66 million tons, with an output value of 13.77 billion yuan. In 2014, the output was 27.99 million tons, with an output value of 166.1 billion yuan. The industry has achieved positive growth for 17 consecutive years, and the continued upward trend has not fundamentally changed. . The annual per capita consumption of daily glass has increased from a few kilograms to more than ten kilograms. If the per capita annual consumption increases by 1-5 kilograms, the market demand will increase substantially.
Meng Lingyan said that daily-use glass products are rich in varieties, versatile, and have good and reliable chemical stability and barrier properties. The quality of the contents can be directly observed and the characteristics of the contents are non-polluting, and they are recyclable and recyclable. Non-polluting products are recognized as safe, green and environmentally friendly packaging materials in various countries.
With the popularization of the basic characteristics and culture of daily-use glass, consumers have become more and more aware of glass as the safest packaging material for food. In particular, the market for glass beverage bottles, mineral water bottles, grain and oil bottles, storage tanks, fresh milk, yogurt bottles, glass tableware, tea sets, and water utensils is huge. In the past two years, the growth trend of glass beverage bottles is promising. In particular, the output of Arctic soda in Beijing has tripled and is in short supply, as is the soda in Shanhaiguan in Tianjin. The market demand for glass food storage tanks is also bullish. Data show that in 2014, the output of daily-use glass products and glass packaging containers was 27,998,600 tons, an increase of 40.47% over 2010, with an average annual increase of 8.86%.
Accelerate transformation and upgrading
Meng Lingyan said that this year is the last year of the “Twelfth Five-Year Plan”. During the “Thirteenth Five-Year Plan” period, the daily glass industry will play a more important role in the development of a low-carbon, green, environmentally friendly, and circular economy.
At the meeting, Zhao Wanbang, secretary general of China Daily Glass Association, issued the “Thirteenth Five-Year Plan Development Guidance Opinions for Daily Use Glass Industry (Draft for Soliciting Comments)”.
The “Opinions” proposed that during the “Thirteenth Five-Year Plan” period, it is necessary to accelerate the transformation of economic development mode and improve the level of technological progress in the industry. Vigorously develop lightweight manufacturing technology for glass bottles and cans; develop energy-saving and environmentally friendly glass furnaces in accordance with relevant standards and specifications for glass melting furnace design; vigorously develop waste (cullet) glass recycling and reuse, and improve waste (cullet) glass processing and batch preparation Quality and improve the level of comprehensive utilization of resources.
Continue to implement industry access to promote the optimization and upgrading of the industrial structure. Standardize investment behavior in the daily glass industry, curb blind investment and low-level redundant construction, and eliminate outdated production capacity. Strictly restrict new thermos bottle projects, and strictly control new daily glass production projects in the eastern and central regions and areas with relatively concentrated production capacity. Newly-built production projects must meet the production scale, production conditions, technology and equipment levels required by the access conditions, and implement energy-saving and emission-reduction measures.
Optimize product structure to meet market demand. In accordance with the upgrading trend of domestic consumer demand, vigorously develop lightweight glass bottles and cans, brown beer bottles, neutral medicinal glass, high borosilicate heat-resistant glassware, high-end glassware, crystal glass products, glass art, and lead-free crystal quality Glass, special varieties of glass, etc., increase the variety of colors, increase the added value of products, and meet the demand for glass packaging products in consumption and downstream industries such as food, wine, and medicine.
Vigorously develop auxiliary pigment manufacturing industries such as glass machinery, glass mold manufacturing, refractory materials, glazes, and pigments. Focus on the development of electronic servo line-type bottle making machines, glassware presses, blowing machines, press blowing machines, glass packaging equipment, online testing equipment, etc. that improve the level of daily glass equipment; develop new high-quality materials, high processing accuracy, and long service life Glass molds; develop high-quality refractory materials and building materials for daily-use glass energy-saving and environmentally-friendly glass furnaces and all-electric furnaces; develop environmental protection, low-temperature glass glazes, pigments and other auxiliary materials and additives; develop daily-use glass production process computers Control System. Strengthen the coordination and cooperation between daily glass production enterprises and supporting enterprises, and jointly promote the improvement of the technical equipment level of the industry.
At the meeting, China Daily Glass Association also commended “Top Ten Enterprises in China Daily Glass Industry”, “Women in China Daily Glass Industry”, and “Outstanding Representative of the Second Generation of China Daily Glass Industry”.
