1. Cork stopper
advantage:
·It is the most original and is still the most widely used one, especially for wines that need to be aged in the bottle.
The cork allows a small amount of oxygen to gradually enter the bottle, allowing the wine to achieve the optimal balance of aromas one and three that the winemaker wants.
shortcoming:
·There are a few wines that use cork stoppers that can be contaminated by cork stoppers. In addition, there is a certain proportion of cork, which will allow more oxygen to enter the wine bottle as the wine ages, causing the wine to oxidize.
Cork Taint Cork Taint:
Cork contamination is caused by a chemical called TCA (trichloroanisole), which some corks contain can give wine a musty cardboard smell.
2. Screw cap:
advantage:
·Good sealing and low cost
· Screw caps do not contaminate wine
Screw caps retain the fruitiness of wines longer than corks, so screw caps are becoming more common in wines where winemakers expect to retain a type of aroma.
shortcoming:
Since screw caps do not allow oxygen to penetrate, it is debatable whether they are suitable for storing wines that require long-term bottle aging.
